MCQ
A ball is rolled off along the edge of a horizontal table with velocity $4 m/s$. It hits the ground after time $0.4 \,\,s$. Which of the following are correct?
  • A
The height of the table is $0.8 \,\,m$
  • B
It hits the ground with vertical velocity $4 \,\,m/s$
  • C
It covers a horizontal distance $1.6 \,\,m$ from the table
  • All of the above

Answer

Correct option: D.
All of the above
d
$y=y_{0}+v_{y}^{t}+\frac{1}{2} a_{y} t^{2}$

$0=h t+\frac{1}{2}(-g) t^{2}$

$h=\frac{1}{2} g T^{2} \Rightarrow h=\frac{1}{2} \times 10 \times(0.4)^{2} \Rightarrow h=0.8 \mathrm{m}$

$V_{y}=-g T=-10 \times 0.4=-4 m / s$

$x=u_{x} t$ $R=u_{x} T \Rightarrow R=4 \times 0.4=1.6 \mathrm{m}$
