Alauddin Khalji's ambition was to become a world champion like the Greek emperor Alexander.
However, his senior advisers persuaded him to conquer other countries only after India won.
Applying this advice to the Sultan, he devised a grand plan to expand the territory of India.
Alauddin's conquests are divided into two parts.
$A.$ Conquests of North India:
$1.$ Conquest of Gujarat: Alauddin's general Malik Kafur looted the capital of Gujarat Anhilwad and established power there.
$2.$ Conquest of Ranthambore: Ranthambore was ruled by Chauhan Rajvi Hamirdev.
Sultan Alauddin conquered Ranthambore after an eleven-month battle.
$3.$ Conquest of Chittor: Alauddin besieged the fort of Chittor for seven months.
Eventually the fort fell into the possession of Alauddin.
$4.$ Victory to meet: He defeated King Mahalakdev of Malwa.
$5.$ Conquest of Zalor: King Kanardev of Zalor accepted the sovereignty of Alauddin.
$6.$ Conquest of Siwana: The most important fort of Marwad, Siwana, was besieged.
The fort was allowed to remain with King Sitaldev.
$B.$ Conquests of South India:
$1.$ Conquest of Warangal: The invincible fort of Warangal fell and King Pratap Rudradeva was forced to accept the treaty.
$2.$ Victory of Devagiri: King Ramchandra of Devagiri surrendered without a fight and he became a faithful friend of Alauddin.
$3.$ Conquest of Hoysal: Hoysal King Ballal was defeated by Alauddin's general Malik Kafur.
$4.$ Victory over the Pandya kingdom: After the conquest of the Hoysala kingdom, Malik Kafur conquered the Pandya kingdom.
The falling temple and city of Madura were looted.
He destroyed the famous Shivalaya of Rameshwar.
All these victories of Alauddin were due to the generals like Ulugh Khan, Nusrat Khan and Malik Kafur.
He also killed the frequent Mongol invasions on the Indian border.
