Question
Aniline gets coloured on standing in air for a long time. Why?

Answer

Due to strong electron - donating effect (+ R effect) of $NH _2$ group, the electron density on the benzene ring increases. As a result, aniline is easily oxidised on standing in air for a long time to form coloured products.
