Question
Assumption

Answer

  • There are three stages of intimate yoga: $(1)$ Dharana, $(2)$ Dhyana and $(3)$ Samadhi.
  • The state of mindfulness achieved by the five external steps $($Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama and Pratyahara$)$ becomes more subtle and strong with the study of the inner self.
  • Thus, mood is suppressed by Ashtanga Yoga.
  • Without the practice of outdoor yoga, just meditating or meditating cannot control the mood.
  • It is imperative for the seeker to study the five external organs before beginning the assumption.
  • Stabilizing the pure mind in the idol of Ishtadev is called 'Dharana'.
  • If the mind purified by the practice of external yoga concentrates on a single subject, it is called 'Gharana'.
  • The classification of perceptual subjects according to Yogadarshan is as follows:
$(i)$ External subjects: Devpratima, Devashikha etc.
$(ii)$ Mental subjects: Mentally conceived external subjects
$(iii)$ External organs of the body: front of nose, front of tongue etc.
$(iv)$ Intrinsic subjects of the body: heart, umbilical cord etc.
$(v)$ Transcendental subjects: hearing, enlightenment, etc.
  • The seeker should first assume the mental subject after proving the assumption in external subjects.
  • Concentration on subjects for a while is not an assumption.
  • Assumption can be made only if at least twelve pranayama remain concentrated on the subjects.
  • With the help of perception, a calm mind can be successfully focused on a single place.
