(i) Atomic energy is obtained by two major nuclear reactions. They are nuclear fission and nuclear fusion.
(ii) Uranium 235 nucleus is bombarded with slow moving neutron to carry out nuclear fission, and for nuclear fusion deuterium and tritium combine to form nucleus of helium.
(iii) Every fission results in release of 200 MeV energy.
(iv) In these nuclear reactions, the energy released is tremendous and extensive
(v) Uranium reserves are found in Russia, America, France etc. Hence atomic energy is an extensive source of energy.
