Based on your understanding of genetic code, explain the formation of any abnormal hemoglobin molecule. What are the known consequences of such a change?

Normally human beings have following types of hemoglobin, HbA, HbA2 and HbF. Alteration in genes for beta chain on hemoglobin results in formation of HbS type of hemoglobin. This type of hemoglobin molecule is responsible for sickle cell anemia.
