Question
Both gymnosperms and angiosperms bear seeds, then why are they classified separately?

Answer

The ovules of gymnosperms are not covered with ovary wall. For this reason, there is no fruit wall on the seeds, that is, seeds are formed in them but there is no fruit. Therefore, these seeds are naked, that is why they are called gymnosperms. In angiosperms, ovules are covered with ovary wall. Due to this, fruits are formed in them and seeds are inside them. Therefore, the seeds are covered, that is why these plants are called angiosperms. This is the main difference between these two plant groups, on this basis these plants have been integrated into two different groups and for this reason they are also classified separately. Apart from this, flowers appear in angiosperm plants and endosperm is triploid. Gymnosperm plants lack flowers and endosperm is haploid.
