Question
Both lysosomes and vacuoles are endo-membrane structures, yet they differ in terms of their functions. Comment.

Answer

Lysosome and vacuoles are both endomembranous structures, yet they are quite different from each other in terms of function. Hydrolytic enzymes are found in the lysosome such as hydrolases, lipase, proteases and carbohydrases. They mainly play an important role in intracellular and extracellular digestion. Vacuole stores and concentrates food items and mineral salts. Vacuole protects the metabolic processes from getting disrupted by storing excretory substances and helps in maintaining the inflation of osmotic pressure of the cells.
