Question
Briefly explain, how spring and neap tides are formed.

Answer

Spring tides are formed during the full moon and new moon days when the sun, the moon and the Earth are in the same line and highest tides occur.
Neap tides are formed when the moon is in its first and last quarter, due to which the ocean waters are drawn in diagonally opposite directions by the gravitational pull of the sun and the moon and results in low tides.
