Question
Briefly explain the importance of moisture.

Answer

  • The water needed by living things on Earth condenses the moisture in the atmosphere and then gets rain.
The importance of humidity in the atmosphere is as follows.
$(1)$ Moisture in the atmosphere is very important for the life on earth. Condensation and precipitation of moisture in the air provide water to the organism.
$(2)$ The distribution of life on earth is also associated with the availability of water.
$(3)$ Various parts of plants as well as large parts of the body of animals contain the element of water. As well as the required water is found through the water cycle arranged between the earth and the atmosphere.
$(4)$ The humidity of the air on hot days cools the human body.
$(5)$ Moisture is a major contributor to global warming and cooling.
$(6)$ Atmospheric humidity is an important contributor to the formation of weather and climatic conditions on Earth.
$(7)$ Humidity in the air affects the intensity of evaporation from the body of animals and vegetation.
$(8)$ Moisture acts as the driving force of the atmosphere. Moisture contains hidden heat energy. As moisture condenses, heat energy is released from it. So the air temperature rises and the atmosphere becomes unstable, storms in the atmosphere, whirlwinds etc. are indirectly caused by the moisture in the air.
$(9)$ Clouds or rain on earth occur according to the amount of moisture in the air.
$(10)$ The atmosphere itself does not produce moisture. It collects moisture from the earth, stores it and returns it when favorable conditions are met. We see it in the form of mist, fog, clouds, rain, hail or snow.
