Question
Bring out the differences between the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes.
✓
Answer
Scheduled Castes are from the untouchable castes whereas Scheduled Tribes belong to tribal groups.
Basis of their being in the group is their "lowest" position whereas Scheduled Tribes are in the group because of "their being isolated" and remote.
Reservations for Scheduled Castes are 15.5% and Scheduled Tribes are 7.5%
Scheduled Castes have mainly agitated against the hegemony of the "Dwij-Caste" whereas Scheduled Tribes have been pressing for autonomy, cultural reservation, state formation etc.
