Question
Can an extinction of one insect pollinator affect the whole ecosystem? If yes Explain.
✓
Answer
When a species becomes extinct, the plant and animal species associated with it, in an obligatory way also become extinct, e.g. if a species of fish becomes extinct, all the parasites unique/ specific to that fish also face extinction. Similarly, in case of a co-evolved plant pollinator (mutualism), extinction of one species invariably leads to the extinction of the other.
