There are three main componentsof computerised accounting system. They are :
$(1)$ Hardware
$(2)$ Software and
$(3)$ Humanware
$(A)$ Hardware : As shown in the figure there are three main components of computer
$(1)$Input Device
$(2)$ Central processing Unit $(CPU)$ and
$(3)$ Output Device. Input devices can comprise of keyboard, mouse, pen based system etc. that help inwriting directly on the screen, touch screen that accepts input directly through the monitorand bar code reader that can read bar codes and translate them into numbers. $CPU$ is known as brain of computer as it does all calculations, logical decisions andcontrols activities of machine. Output device comprise of Visual Display Unit or Monitor, Printer, Speaker etc.
$(B)$ Software : Software is a set of instructions that can perform special tasks as required byusers or machine. Software is very essential for different computer applications. Softwarecan be divided into two types:
$(1)$ System software and
$(2)$ Application software. System software is used to control the operations and to extend processing capabilityof a computer system e.g. Windows-$7$. Application software is used by user to performspecific functions e.g. Tally, $M.S$. Office etc.
$(C)$ Humanware : Humanware is the people who work with computer and software. It willinclude programmers, computer or data entry operators, software engineers, hardwareengineers, system analyst etc.
