The meaning of conflict:
In human society, along with cooperation, there is also the existence of conflict.
When a limited goal is desired by many people, the result is sometimes conflict.
Thoughts and desires in conflict become so intense that one treats the person or the other hostilely.
Be prepared to harm others through violence in order to achieve their own goal.
"Conflict is a social process in which individuals and groups try to achieve their goals by directly challenging the enemy through violence or threats of violence," says Gribin.
"The situation that arises when individuals confront each other for the same goal is a social conflict," says McIver and Page.
E.g. Caste conflict.
In short, conflict is a contradictory activity between two groups to achieve the same goal.
Causes of conflict:
$(1)$ Self-centered party
$(2)$ The spirit of nationalism
$(3)$ Lack of a harmonious environment for interests or goals
Types of conflict:
Conflict is a permanent process in human society.
An individual is connected to another person and one group is connected to another.
As a result, there are different types of conflict.
$(1)$ Direct and indirect conflict:
Obstacles arise directly between different parties with the same goal.
Conflict when physical force is used is called direct or direct conflict.
Direct struggle, such as teasing, slandering each other, insulting each other, and demeaning each other, involves a real struggle.
While in indirect conflict there are attempts to obstruct the achievement of the goal by the parties with the same goal.
In which indirect efforts occur.
They hurt each other by spreading lies, by current letters, by radio or by television.
$(2)$ Partial conflict and full conflict:
A situation of partial conflict of any kind is a compromise between individuals or groups in terms of different goals.
But there is controversy over different ways or means.
E.g. Conflict between labor-owners.
While in the whole conflict no compromise is seen in the then situation.
As a result, the only way to resolve the differences of interest is to resort to physical force.
Violence or harm to the other party or group of the whole conflict by physical force is removed.
Or it is destroyed.
E.g. Communal conflicts are examples of complete conflicts such as war between two countries.
$(3)$ Individual and group conflict:
Personal conflict is a conflict between two individuals.
The other person is harmed for his own interest and self-interest.
Thus one person stands in the way of achieving another person’s goal.
The conflict that arises when trying to harm it is called personal conflict.
The onset of guilty feelings about having the affair, in the first place, further zaps whatever energy the partner having the affair might still have left.
This conflict continues until there is cooperation or compromise between two persons or parties.
Group conflict is a conflict between two large groups.
E.g. Conflict between owner and laborer, communal conflict between two communities, conflict between golden and backward castes.
Group conflict can be direct or indirect as well as partial or complete.
$(4)$ Internal or external conflict:
Internal conflict is a conflict between members of a group.
It is about the needs of the group members.
Here such references are born out of selfishness.
Such conflicts of family organization are seen.
While external conflict may include war between two nations.
External conflict reduces group internal conflict.
The internal and external classification of conflict is a relative concept.
Conflict between different groups in the same country is internal.
When the same country is at war with another country it is an external conflict.
$(5)$ Gender conflict:
There are physical differences between individuals in society.
Such a conflict is seen between people of two different cultures.
This is a form of group struggle.
$(6)$ Class Conflict:
The history of human society from the beginning was divided into two categories.
This class belonged to masters and slaves or to masters and laborers.
Different sections of the society fight against other class or government to protect their own interests.
E.g. Trade unions are fighting over wages against employers.
$(7)$ Political Conflict:
Political conflicts are mainly of two types.
$(1)$ National Conflict:
Which are between different political parties or states of the same nation.
E.g. Conflict over water between Punjab and Haryana
$(2)$ International Conflict:
If there is a conflict between two or more countries, it is an international conflict.
E.g. World War, Gulf War or the current war against $ISIS.$
