Digestion of food and harvesting the energy from them, and synthesis of necessary molecules required for various cellular functions are examples of such reactions. All these reactions are catalysed by special proteins called enzymes. (or) Enzymes are biocatalysts produced by the living cells which catalyse many biochemical reactions in animal and plant bodies. They are more specific in their action.
