Meiosis: The division in which the number of chromosomes in the daughter cells is half that of the mother cell is called meiosis.
Leptotene: In this stage of leptotene phase, chromosomes become long thread-like. Pearl-like structures or chromomeres are found on these structures. The nucleus increases in volume. In the chromosome network, half the chromosomes are from the male and half from the female. Chromosomes having similar structure are homologous.
