- Characteristics of symmetric frequency distribution:
- The values of mean, median and mode are same, l.e., $\bar{x}=M=M_0$
- Quartiles $Q_1$ and $Q_3$ are equidistant from median $M$. i.e., $\left(Q_3-M\right)=\left(M-Q_1\right)$.
- The frequency curve is bell - shaped.
- The frequency of observation at equal distance on both the sides of mode is evenly distributed.
