Define the term : Arithmetic mean

Arithmetic mean:
$a.$ The most probable value of a large number of readings of a quantity is called the arithmetic mean value of the quantity. This value can be considered to be true value of the quantity.
$b.$ If  $a_1, a_2, a_3, …… a_n$ are $‘n \ ’$ number of readings taken for measurement of a quantity, then their mean value is given by,
$ a _{\text {mean }}=\frac{a_1+a_2+\ldots \ldots+a_n}{n}$
$\therefore a _{\text {mean }}=\frac{1}{n} \sum_{i=1}^n a_i$
