Jagirdar was a mansab (rank) under Mughal administration. He was assigned to collect revenue of the jagir (land) that was alloted to him. Jagirdari was not a hereditary post.
People could be removed from the rank if they did anything illegal. Jagirs were carefully assessed so that their revenues were roughy equal to the salary of the mansabdar.
