The Portuguese governor of Goa was furious when he learned that a woman had defeated his forces. He sent a large army to attack Ullal. Rani Abbakka gathered her soldiers and motivated them by saying that this would be the decisive war. The battle lasted for four days, and Abbakka’s forces fought bravely. In the end, the Portuguese were defeated and fled, never to trouble Ullal again.
