To obtain ECG, an instrument called electrocardiograph is used. In this technique, using conducting jelly, three electrodes of the device are placed on the chest, wrist and legs of the patient respectively. The electrical signals received from them are of low amplitude, which are amplified by a suitable system installed in the equipment and recorded in a sensitive recorder.
