  1. On the basis of psychological tests, questionnaires, structured interviews etc. which contain a series of close-ended questions, researchers calculate an aggregate score.
  2. In doing so, the researcher convert the psychological attributes into a quantity.
  3. For the purpose of drawing conclusions, a researcher may compare individual's score with that of the group, or compare the scores of two groups.
