  • Bauxite is also used in the purification of kerosene and in the manufacture of chemicals, alum, fireproof materials, and high grade aluminium.
  • Jamaica is the highest producer of bauxite in the world. It is found in Hungary, France and Yugoslavia.
  • India stands third in the production of bauxite.
  • Bauxite is found in Chhatisgadh, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
  • It is the second important mineral of Gujarat.
  • It is found in Jamnagar, Junagadh, Amreli, Kutch, Kheda, Bhavnagar, Valsad, Sabarkantha districts.
