 1. Its strength is fixed. 1. Its strength can be changed by changing the
 current through the coil.
 2. Its polarities are fixed. 2. Its polarities can be reversed by changing the
 direction of the current.
 3. They are usually made of alloys. e.g.,   Alnico 3. It is made by inserting a soft iron rod into
 a copper coil/solenoid and connecting the coil/solenoid to   a battery.
 Note : Alnico is an alloy of aluminium,   nickel,cobalt and iron.
