Following measures can be adopted to prevent environmental degradation:

Proper water management: It includes recycling and reuse of water, rainwater harvesting and proper treatment of discharged water.
Control on air pollution- In order to prevent the release of harmful gases and particles into the atmosphere, the smoke stacks of factories should have electrostatic precipitators, fabric filters and inertial separators. Use of oil and gas instead of coal can also be useful to control air pollution.
Proper management of solid waste- Solid wastes should be separated into biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes and then they can be disposed of accordingly. There is a need to recycle and reuse non-biodegradable wastes.
