Question
Evaluate: $\frac{-13}{8}+\frac{5}{16}+\frac{-1}{4}$

Answer

$\frac{-13}{8}+\frac{5}{16}+\frac{-1}{4}$
$LCM$ of $8, 16, 4 = 16$
$\frac{-13}{8}=\frac{-13\times2}{8\times2}=\frac{-26}{16}$
$\frac{5}{6}=\frac{5}{6}$
$\frac{-1}{4}=\frac{-1\times4}{4\times4}=\frac{-4}{16}$
$\therefore\frac{-13}{8}+\frac{5}{6}+\frac{(-1)}{4}$
$=\frac{-26}{16}+\frac{5}{16}+\frac{-4}{16}$
$=\frac{-26+5+(-4)}{16}$
$=\frac{-26+5-4}{16}=\frac{-30+5}{16}$
$=\frac{-25}{16}$
