→ In the First Angl-Maratha War, there was no clear victory and it ended in 1782 with the Treaty of Salbai.
→ In the Second Anglo-Maratha War (1803-05), the British defeated Marathas and gained control over Orissa and the territories North of the Yamuna river including Agra and Delhi.
→ In the Third Anglo-Maratha War (1817-19), the British again defeated the Maratha and suppressed their power. They removed Peshwa and sent away to Bithur near Kanpur with a pension. They gained complete control over the territories South of the Vindhyas.
