$1.$ Cationic complexes: A complex in which the complex ion carries a net positive charge is called a cationic complex.
eg. $[Fe(H_2O)_6]Cl_3, [Co(NH_3)_6]Cl_3, [Ni(NH_3)_6]Cl_2$ are cationic complexes. This can be seen from the following reactions:
$[Co(NH_3)_6]Cl_3 ⇌ [Co(NH_3)_6]^{3+} + 3Cl^-$
$[Fe(H_2O)_6]Cl_3 ⇌ [Fe(H_2O)_6]^{3+} + 3Cl^-$
$[Ni(NH_3)_6]Cl_2 ⇌ [Ni(NH_3)6]^{2+} + 2Cl^-$
$2.$​​​​​​​ Anionic complexes: The complexes in which the complex ion carries a net negative charge are called anionic complexes.
eg. $K_4[Fe(CN)_6], K[Ag(CN)_2], K_2[HgI_4]$ are anionic complex ions as indicated in the following reactions:
$K_4[Fe(CN)_6] ⇌ 4K^+ + [Fe(CN)_6]^{4-}$
$K[Ag(CN)_2] ⇌ K^+ + [Ag(CN)_2]^{1-}$
$K_2[HgI_4] ⇌ 2K^+ + [HgI_4]^{2-}​​​​​​​$​​​​​​​
