• This resource is mostly used for agriculture.
• It is also used by humans to build dwellings, transportation routes, industries, orchards, and reservoirs.
• Sustainable farming practices developed in the fertile land area, resulting in the establishment of rural settlements.
• Land resources have played an important role in human development.
• Over time, land resources have also become a problem.
• Problems with land resources:

1. Decrease in the cultivable land:

• Due to urbanization, industrialization, railways, roads, etc., the cultivable land is declining every year.

2. Salinity due to over-irrigation:

• All three seasons of crops are harvested as irrigation facilities increase. Excessive irrigation is increasing the salinity of the soil, thus reducing its fertility.

3. Soil Erosion:

• Excessive rainfall, declining forest cover, etc. wash away the fertile topsoil.
• The land becomes unusable.

4. Deforestation:

• Forest areas are declining due to urbanization, industrialization, airports in the forest areas, increasing different types of pollution etc.
• As a result the amount of rainfall decreases.
• Soil erosion increases.
• The amount of forest is also declining due to zoom type farming, so the quality of the land is declining.

5. Jhoom Cultivation:

• Due to the increase in irrigation, investment, modern machinery for farming, all the three seasons are harvested. As a result soil fertility is declining.

6. Intensive Cultivation:

• Crops of the all three season are taken where there are facilities of irrigation for cultivation, capital investment and modern mechanization. This also reduces the fertility of soil.
