Explain Hydrophily with example.

Hydrophily: When pollen grains are transferred via water, it is known as hydrophily. All aquatic plants are not pollinated by water. Following characteristics are found in aquatic plants that are pollinated by water :
(i) Flowers are small, colourless and odourless.
(ii) Nectar is not formed in these flowers.
(iii) Stigma is long, hairy and stuck but it lakhs moisture.
(iv) Male flowers are ressible, submerged and female flowers are long, with coiled stalk.
(v) Calyx, corolla and other flored parts are dry.
