Segregation: When $F _1$, hybrids are self - pollinated, the seeds obtained from them germinate into tall and dwarf plants in a 3 : 1 ratio. Out of the three tall plants, only 1 is pure, and the remaining two are hybrids. During gamete formation, the factors segregate. The process of segregation is Mendel's law of segregation.
