Question
Explain the meaning of secularisation.
✓
Answer
Secularization means the social attitude that endeavors to bring in more logic and rationality in matters of faith and religion. It implies a process of distinction that highlights the separateness of different aspects of society. In the Indian society secularization has been defined by equal in the eyes of law. Therefore, the government will have no bias for or against any religion while formulating and implementing policy. The government will also not allow any person, institution or community to adopt such biased policies. Impact of Secularisation in India:
Impact on occupation: Occupations are not adopted on the basis of caste, religion or pollution and purity. The criteria for choosing a profession has changed just as other things have changed in terms of life style and marriage etc.
Impact on religious domain: Instead of sitting for hours doing worship now people say their prayers while doing other jobs. Instead of going to religious places they can listen to religious discourses on the television channels. Instead of giving aims to pundits and priests they prefer to donate money to charitable institutions that are doing social welfare work.
