Explain the process of regeneration in Planaria. How is this process different from reproduction?

If the individual is somehow cut to broken up into many pieces, many of these pieses grow into separate individuals. For example, simlplw animals like Hydra and Planaria can be cut intok any number of piese and each piece grows into a complete organism. This is known as regeneration (see the below figures). Regeneration is carried out by speacialised cells. These cells proliferate and make large numbers of cells.

Regeneration is different from reproduction. Regeneration of an organism from its cut body part occurs by the process of growth and development.
