Soil is made up of four layers which are:
  1. Top soil: It contains humus and vegetation.
  2. Sub soil: It is the second layer and consists of sand, silt and clay.
  3. Fragmented rock material: It is the third layer and is made up of weathered rock material.
  4. Parent rock: It is the solid unweathered rock.
