India's Total Fertility Rate (TFR)
The average number of children expected to be born per woman during her reproductive year had fallen by 19% over the past decade. Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad recently said "We have seen a steady decline in TFR that has come down by 42% from the mid-1960s. We may see a drop of 0.1 point in the TFR, which is currently at 2.6."
