Question
Explain three differences between the rate constant of reaction and rate of a reaction.
✓
Answer
There are the following differences between the rate constant and rate of a reaction: (1) Rate constant is the rate when the concentration of all the reactants is unit but the change in concentration of any reactant or product in unit time is the reaction rate. (2) The rate constant does not depend on the concentration of the reactants whereas the rate of the reaction is proportional to the concentration. (3) The unit of rate constant depends on order of the reaction whereas the unit of rate is $mol ^{-1} s^{-1}$ i.e. it is certain.
