Factorise: $a^2– 2ab + b^2– c^2$

Answer

$a^2– 2ab + b^2– c^2= (a – b)^2– c^2[$ Using identity, $(x – y)^2= x^2– 2xy + y^2]$
$= {(a – b) – c)}{(a – b) + c}] [$Using identity, $x^2- y^2= (x - y)(x + y)]$
$= (a – b – c) (a – b + c)$
This is the required factorisation.
