x2 + 2xy + y2 - a2 + 2ab - b2
= (x2 + 2xy + y2) - (a2 - 2ab + b2)
= (x + y)2 - (a - b)2
= [(x + y) - (a - b)][(x + y) + (a - b)]
= (x + y - a + b)(x + y + a - b)
