Let the $x$ be the mean proportion of 8.1 and 2.5
$

& \therefore 8.1: x :: x : 2.5 \\
& \therefore x 2=8.1 x 2.5 \\
& \therefore x =\sqrt{8.1 \times 2.5} \\
& =\sqrt{20.25} \\
& =4.5 .
