Find the mean proportional between: $6$ and $24$

Answer

Let $x$ be the mean proportional,
then $6:\text{x}::\text{x}:24$
$\Rightarrow\text{x}^2=6\times24=144$
$\text{x}=\sqrt{144}=12$
Mean proportional $= 12$
