We know that, perimeter is the sum of all sides.
Perimeter of the given figure
$= AB + BC + CD + DA$
$= (5x - y) + 2(x + y) + (5x - y) + 2(x + y)$
$= 5x - y + 2x + 2y + 5x - y + 2x + 2y$
On combining the like terms.
$= 5x + 2x + 5x + 2x - y + 2y - y + 2y$
$= 4x + 2y$
