Question
Find the time required for a 50Hz alternating current to change its value from zero to the rms value.

Answer

$\text{f}=50\text{Hz}$
$=\text{I}=\text{I}_0\sin\omega\text{t}$
Peak value $\text{I}=\frac{\text{I}_0}{\sqrt{2}}$
$\frac{\text{I}_0}{\sqrt{2}}=\text{I}_0\sin\omega\text{t}$
$\Rightarrow\ \frac{1}{\sqrt{2}}=\sin\omega\text{t}=\sin\frac{\pi}{4}$
$\Rightarrow\ \frac{\pi}{4}=\omega\text{t}$
Or $\text{t}=\frac{\pi}{400}$
$=\frac{\pi}{4\times2\pi\text{f}}=\frac{1}{8\text{f}}$
$=\frac{1}{8\times50}=0.0025\text{s}=2.5\text{ms}$

popular game in Indian villages is goli which is played with small glass balls called golis. The goli of one player is situated at a distance of 2.0m from the goli of the second player. This second player has to project his goli by keeping the thumb of the left hand at the place of his goli, holding the goli between his two middle fingers and making the throw. If the projected goli hits the goli of the first player, the second player wins. If the height from which the goli is projected is 19.6cm from the ground and the goli is to be projected horizontally, with what speed should it be projected so that it directly hits the stationary goli without falling on the ground earlier?

  1. Atomic mass of $^{238}_{92}\text{U}= 238.05079u$
  2. Atomic mass of  $^{234}_{90}\text{Th}= 234.04363u$

  3. Atomic mass of $^{4}_{2}\text{He}= 4.00260\text{ u}$

$\text{1u} = 931.5 \text{MeV/c}^{2}$

The product of the hole concentration and the conduction electron concentration turns out to be independent of the amount of any impurity doped. The concentration of conduction electrons in germanium is 6 × 1019 per cubic metre. When some phosphorus impurity is doped into a germanium sample, the concentration of conduction electrons increases to 2 × 1023 per cubic metre. Find the concentration of the holes in the doped germanium.
