Find the value of y, if $\begin{bmatrix}\text{x}-\text{y}&2\\\text{x}&5 \end{bmatrix}=\begin{bmatrix}2&2\\3&5 \end{bmatrix}$

Given,
$\begin{bmatrix}\text{x}-\text{y}&2\\\text{x}&5 \end{bmatrix}=\begin{bmatrix}2&2\\3&5 \end{bmatrix}$
Since, corresponding entries of equal matrices are equal, so
x = 3
and x - y = 2
⇒ 3 - y = 2
⇒ -y = 2 - 3
⇒ -y = -1
⇒ y = 1
