Social change is not easy to understand.
The direction of change can be understood only when we get a proper understanding of the nature of change, the interrelationships and the consequences of change.
Mutations usually occur in three forms.
$(A)$ Linear transformation:
$(B)$ Change in ascending-descending form:
$(C)$ Change of cyclic form:
$(1)$ The linear transformation of the evolutionary form:
The change in the form of evolution that is constantly changing in the same direction almost directly and upwards is called linear change or change in the form of evolution.
Thanks to machinery and scientific development.
E.g. Adi Samaj $\rightarrow $ Krishi Samaj $\rightarrow $ Industrial Samaj $\rightarrow $ Information Society.
$(2)$ Change in ascending-descending form:
The form of change that sometimes goes up and sometimes down in one direction is the change of ascending-descending form.
E.g. In the monarchical system of India, some castes were economically superior.
After independence, after the merger of the states, power and land were taken away and they became economically weak.
But thanks to education, skills and entrepreneurship, they are back in business today.
Cyclic form change:https://myfiles.space/user_files/99359_2eb721bd6f767931/99359_custom_files/img1680244751.png" width="165" height="161" />
- Cyclic change is a form of reversal in the same position where the change begins.
- Many events in nature and society change cyclically.
- E.g. Seasonal cycle.
- Likewise the changes in fashion and values.
- Some thinkers also consider the rise-development-fall of human civilization in this form.
- The changes in the cyclic form run like clockwork.
