Largest iron deposits are found in North America and Europe.

The first blast furnace to melt iron ore was established in $1911$ at Jamshedpur in Bihar.
Iron ore is found mainly in Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Chhatisgadh, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, Tamilnadu, Gujarat and Rajasthan.

This export is mainly done from Vishakhapattanam, Paradip and Mangalore ports.
