- Largest iron deposits are found in North America and Europe.
- Brazil comes first and India comes second in higher quality iron ore.
- The first blast furnace to melt iron ore was established in $1911$ at Jamshedpur in Bihar.
- Iron ore is found mainly in Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Chhatisgadh, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, Tamilnadu, Gujarat and Rajasthan.
- Nearly 50% of the iron ore is exported to Japan, Korea, European and Gulf countries.
- This export is mainly done from Vishakhapattanam, Paradip and Mangalore ports.
