  • India produced $1553$ thousand tonnes of manganese in $2000-2001.$
  • About $20\%$ of the world deposits of manganese ore are in India.
  • The main reserves producing $97\%$ of manganese ore in India are Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa.
  • In Gujarat it is found in Panchmahal district in a $26\ km$ long belt from Bayotiya to Pani.
