Copper is a soft metal so it can be moulded and given any shape.
It has been one of the hrst metals to be used by man.
By mixing it with zinc, we get brass and by mixing it with tin we get bronze.
It is mixed with gold ornaments to give sturdiness.
It is a good conductor of electricity so it is used in manufacturing of electrical and communication equipment, insecticides, explosive, coloured glass, coins and printing.
India has a reserve of $712.5$ million tonnes of copper ore. In $2000-2001, 164$ thousand tonnes of copper was produced in India.
Copper is found in maximum quantity in Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
