The east coast plain extends from the eastern coast of Odisha up to Kanniyakumari. it is broader than the west coast plain.
East Coast plain is divided into two parts (1) Northern Circar coast and (2)Coromandel coast. The North Circar coast includes most parts of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. Southern Andhra Pradesh and eastern coast of Tamil Nadu come under ‘Coromandel’ coast.
Mahanadi, Godavari, Krishna and Kaveri rivers have forms delta in this plain wherein much sediment is deposited. '
The delta soil in these plain is very fertile hence agriculture has developed here and the population is also very dense.
Natural ports are very few here because of the shallow sea.
