Hydrolysis of $\ce{C_2H_5Br}$ with aqueous $\text{KOH}$ followed by acidification with dil. $\ce{HNO_3}$ and subsequent treatment with $\ce{AgNO_3}$ gives light yellow ppt. of $\ce{AgBr}$ whereas $\ce{C_6H_5Br}$ does not give this test.
