Seligman gave a hypothetical example of an experience machine. What if you could be hooked to an experience machine that would keep you in constant state of happiness or whatever positive emotions you wish, no matter what happened in your life? Do you think you would experience lots of happiness all the time? Would you like to be hooked up all the time? We may like it for sometime only but experiencing only one emotion and having the same cheerful reaction to the diversity of life events and challenges might actually improvise the experience of life. Above all, most of us would not like the experience machine because we believe that there is more in life than happiness and subjective pleasure.
